As the days get a little shorter and the summer vibes are still going strong, it’s the perfect time to soak up the last bit of sunshine and make some unforgettable memories. Whether you’re a long-time local or new to the area, Northern Utah is bursting with awesome activities this August. I’ve put together the ultimate end of summer bucket list to ensure you make the most of these final sunny days. Let’s get into it!

 

1.) Paranormal Circus 🎪

SLC – Aug 2nd – 5th (Ticket Required)
Provo – Aug 9th – 12th (Ticket Required)

Kick off your August with a spine-tingling, jaw-dropping experience at the Paranormal Circus. This isn’t your average circus—prepare for a night of thrills, chills, and incredible performances that blend horror with circus artistry. Make sure to grab your tickets early because this is one show you don’t want to miss!

2.) Blues & Brews Concert & Car Show 🎶🚗

Snowbasin Resort – Aug 4th

Nothing says summer like live music and craft brews! Head up to Snowbasin Resort for a day filled with soulful blues tunes and a spectacular car show. Enjoy the mountain views, delicious food, and, of course, a variety of local brews. It’s the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

3.) Extreme Zipline, Tubing & More 🪂

Olympic Park (Park City) – Now – Aug 18th (Summer Gold Pass Required)

For those who crave adrenaline, the Olympic Park in Park City has got you covered. Fly down extreme ziplines, take on the tubing hills, and explore more high-energy activities. With the Summer Gold Pass, you can experience all the thrills this legendary park has to offer.

4.) Visit the Bonneville Salt Flats

Explore the 30,000 acres of gorgeous nothingness that make up the Salt Flats. It’s the perfect backdrop for pictures with your friends and loved ones. For some adventure, take your car and drive out into the flats (dry season, July – October)! Pretend your in Mad Max or experience one of the world’s most beautiful sunsets, either way, you’ll have fun.

  • Tips for the Flats:
    • There are no vendors: bring food and water.
    • Drive at your own risk: ensure you have signal, a fully charged phone, and maybe AAA in case you get stuck out in the flats.
    • There are restrooms at the lookout point.
    • Most importantly, you’re visiting a one-of-a-kind place—leave it better than you found it. Any and all trash you make, please bring back with you to throw away later.

 

5.) Sunset Kayak on The Great Salt Lake 🌅

Antelope Island Marina – Aug 21st (Registration Required, Park Entry Fee Applies)

Imagine paddling out on the Great Salt Lake as the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky with stunning colors. This sunset kayak adventure at Antelope Island Marina is a must-do. It’s a serene and beautiful way to connect with nature and appreciate the unique landscape of Northern Utah. Be sure to register in advance and note that a park entry fee applies.

 

6.) Swim, Snorkel, or Jet Ski the Crystal Clear Waters of Bear Lake 🌊

Bear Lake is often called the “Caribbean of the Rockies” for a reason. Its clear, turquoise waters are perfect for all kinds of water activities. Whether you want to swim, snorkel, or jet ski, Bear Lake has it all. Pack a picnic, bring your gear, and get ready for a fantastic day on the water.

7.) Attend a Concert at the First United Amphitheater (Previously Known as USANA) 🎤

8.) Visit the Spiral Jetty and Collect Your Own Selenite Crystals

As you explore, take the opportunity to collect your own selenite crystals (AKA Dirty Diamonds) from the lake’s edge.

The park’s charming atmosphere and variety of entertainment options ensure a day full of fun and excitement.
